Kayaker at Oxbow Bend
Kayaker at Oxbow Bend
David DesRochers
In September of 2005, I was visiting Grand Teton National Park hoping to capture the fall colors. The foliage was a bit behind schedule but that didn't stop me from searching for interesting photo opportunities. One evening, I lined up with several other photographers to wait for sunset. Heavy clouds filled the sky and my hope of capturing one of nature's great displays was fading.
As the other photographers talked about their day, I noticed a lone kayaker paddling into view. As the sun delivered a glimmer of light onto the water, I followed my subject as he explored Oxbow Bend. I snapped several shots and this photo is the one I felt best captured the serenity I feel when I visit any one of our National Parks.
