• Looking at 262 million acres of BLM land area alone, less than five percent of that land is used for oil gas production and less than one percent actually sees an oil and gas footprint. The other 95 percent is free and clear from even the possibility of sharing use with oil and gas production. Similarly, only 15 percent of the National Wildlife Refuge System has oil and gas activities; whereas well over 90 percent of the Refuge System is open to hunting and fishing. - 3/27/07
